Wooden Beaded Fringe Collar Necklace

There's a touch of Egypt in this circa 1930's fringe necklace. A double layer of ivory celluloid links are bound together with brass rings to form a flat collar on which colorful beaded fringe dangles. Just loaded with beads of natural wood and painted red, green, blue, yellow, black and gray, this is a playful, yet sophisticated example of art deco costume jewelry, covertly influenced by the Cleoptraesque resurgence of it's time of origin. Each dangling set of beads, measuring 3/4" long, consists of a barrel-shaped bead and is capped with a little round bead of a different color and attached to the collar with brass hardware. Measures 16" long and closes with an old spring ring clasp. The celluloid double link collar measures 3/4" wide. The collar along with the beads measures 1 1/2" total.  A truly fab necklace of mixed media and mixed inspiration, all wrapped up into a must have and wearable collectible. This beauty, although gently worn over the years, does have some typical wear to a few of the beads, to be expected, and is still in very good condition and ready to show off to the world again! Adorable Painted Wooden Deer Brooch

We just fell in love with this sweet little Bambi-esque darling from the moment we saw it! Multi-Color Wooden Beaded Cluster Earrings

Clusters of stained, muted, multi-colored wooden beads, dangling with smaller columns of stacked beads make up these Haskell-esque, circa 1950 earrings. Begging to be heard, this fun and flirty pair measure 3" long by 1 1/4" wide when hanging. There is some definite fading of these colors (greens and yellows especially) that has happened over time, and the beads do show a bit of wear, but the fading is consistent and almost looks intentional. The hardware on these have been replace with new silver-toned hoops (not by us), although the rest of the metal on these is the original brass. Still, a fun pair of earrings that we couldn't resist.   Item# 5115

Gutta Percha Mourning Pendant on French Jet Beaded Necklace

This is a really neat old Victorian gutta percha and French jet mourning necklace. Circa 1860's-1870's, this necklace was born around the same time the Civil War was happening on our own soil. Wow…what a neat piece of history! And gutta percha was really only used to make jewelry for a short period of time during this part of the Victorian period. It is a finite, rare, and collectable material, made from the sap of the Malayan tree. A sort of four-pointed star of gutta percha is mounted on a gutta percha frame, embellished with matte French jet round beads. This pendant is strung on a chain of shiny jet glass beads of all different shapes, sizes and cuts. Interesting, cool and collectable.
